Yoga is an amazing habit to incorporate into your little ones daily routine. It is something that I use as often as possible in my classroom and have seen first hand how big of an impact it can make in shaping the day. There are so many benefits to introducing this practice as a part of the rhythm of your home. Here are a few of my favorites:

1. Yoga is all about being in the moment and something called mindfulness. Mindfulness is the ability to focus on one single thing, such as your breathing or a movement. It has been shown that in practicing mindfulness your body is able to come back to center much faster and easier when you are upset or anxious.
2. Yoga teaches your kids to have a growth mindset. A growth mindset means being able to look at challenges with excitement instead of dread. Practicing yoga allows for them to work through challenging poses and to see the importance of perseverance on and off the mat.
3. Yoga is a great way to connect as a family. Have fun with this! Be sure to have a good laugh when poses get particuallarily difficult or when someone topples over. The ability to laugh at yourself is a huge measure of success.
Making yoga a part of your daily rhythm as a family doesn't have to be long or complicated start small and have fun with it! A few of my favorite places to go for kid-friendly classes are CosmicKids yoga and AloGives. The videos are free and are really engaging. I would love to hear how you are planning to or already incorporate movement into your little ones day.
